Job Description

A K-12 Adaptive Physical Education Teacher position is available in Abbeville, LA, for the upcoming school year on a contract basis. This role requires delivering physical education instruction tailored to students with diverse physical and developmental needs, ensuring an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement adaptive physical education lessons that meet individual student needs.
• Assess students physical capabilities and create customized activity plans.
• Collaborate with general physical education teachers, therapists, and other school staff.
• Monitor and document student progress to adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
• Promote physical fitness, motor skill development, and social interaction through adapted activities.

Qualifications:

• Certification or licensure in Physical Education with specialization or experience in adaptive PE.
• Understanding of physical disabilities, special education regulations, and inclusive teaching methods.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, parents, and staff.
• Patience, creativity, and flexibility in devising adaptive instructional strategies.
• Previous experience working with K-12 students in adaptive physical education settings preferred.
