Cohesity Engineer – Operational & Data Protect SME

San Antonio, TX | 12-Month Renewable Residency

As a Cohesity Engineer specializing in operational excellence and Data Protect, you will be the linchpin in ensuring robust data protection and smooth operations across our storage and backup environments. You will work with cutting-edge technologies and play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing our Cohesity infrastructure to guarantee business continuity and top-notch data availability.

Your Responsibilities

• You will oversee day-to-day administration, monitoring, and maintenance of Cohesity DataProtect clusters, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
• You’ll develop, implement, and manage backup and disaster recovery strategies using Cohesity DataProtect, ensuring business-critical data is always secure.
• You will proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve operational issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring SLAs are consistently met.
• Design and deploy automation scripts (PowerShell, Python, or equivalent) to streamline repetitive tasks, improve efficiency, and support infrastructure as code.
• You will partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., storage, security, application teams) to support new deployments, troubleshoot complex issues, and optimize existing solutions.
• Analyze backup performance metrics, recommend improvements, and implement best practices to enhance data protection and operational efficiency.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• 3+ years of hands-on experience managing and maintaining Cohesity DataProtect environments in a production setting.
• Experience with other backup and recovery tools like Veritas Netbackup, Rubrik, Commvault, etc. in large, enterprise accounts.
• Deep knowledge of Cohesity DataProtect, Snapshots, Replication, Archive, and Cloud integration. Experience with VMware, Windows, and Linux environments.
• Proven skills in root cause analysis and performance tuning of backup environments.
• Proficiency in developing scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Python) to automate operational tasks.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
• Certifications (nice to have): Cohesity certifications (e.g., Cohesity Certified Engineer) or equivalent vendor certifications.
