JOB DESCRIPTION
The Counter Service Associate is primarily responsible for assisting customers in person and occasionally over the phone; works closely with the other branches’ CSR teams and warehouse associates to ensure a high level of customer service. Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a safe, timely and efficient manner.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Promptly assist all external and internal customers (via walk-in or phone); answer the telephone professionally.
• Provide information about products and answer any questions the customer may have. • Data entry and retrieval on the computer system, including entering customer orders, branch transfers, inventory information, and pricing.
• Follow-up on customer orders, seek to resolve any issues that may arise with a customer's order, and respond in a timely manner.
• Effectively communicate to customers any relevant policies and/or procedures regarding purchases, returns, credit terms, etc.
• Stay informed and educated as to product inventory and applicability; continuously update your product knowledge through any available resources.
• Know location of merchandise in the warehouse.
• Accurately fill customer orders as need.
• Safely load and unload trucks as needed.
• Check in and put away products/material, verifying quantities accurately. Maintain clear aisle and walkways.
• Report back orders and/or material discrepancies.
• Accurately perform cycle counts as required.
Additional Duties
• Assist technicians with quoting & looking up parts.
• All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• 3+ years of experience in a relevant position
• Experience in HDPE Plastic pipe is a bonus
Customer Service and/or Warehouse positions
Language/Math/Reasoning Ability
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
• Intermediate personal computer skills, including electronic mail, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, tool tracking software, etc. (Microsoft Word and Excel)
• Familiarity with P-21 or other ERP Programs
Physical Demands
• Substantial movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive manner.
• Close, distance, peripheral, and color vision requirements.
• Must be able to lift, carry, pull, or otherwise 25+ pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to climb stairs on occasion.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to work with the fingers, reach/handle items.
• Consistent standing/walking for hours at a time.
Will be working indoors and outdoors. (Product is both inside and outside)
• Normal operating hours and days: Monday–Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm.
Pay is $18 - $25/hr
