We need an enthusiastic and experienced Estimator for our company. This is an exciting opportunity to become a vital part of our team, based in the vibrant city of Nashville. Our company focuses on ground-up commercial construction and big box retail construction projects. We pride ourselves on our commitment to quality, safety, and innovation. As a Permanent Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the pre-construction phase of our projects, providing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates to ensure our projects are financially feasible and profitable.
Responsibilities:
- Analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services, applying knowledge of specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, or processes.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications and performing quantity take-offs for select trades.
- Coordinate with project teams to gather information about labor costs, materials, production times, and other data.
- Review data to determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized lists.
- Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reductions.
- Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
- Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
- Evaluate subcontractor proposals for completeness and conformance with project goals.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date cost databases and software for cost estimation.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as an estimator in the construction industry, with a focus on ground up commercial construction and big box retail construction.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Proficient in relevant software including MS Office Suite and estimating software.
- Strong analytical and mathematical abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
- Strong ability to read and understand project owner specifications, plans, and shop drawings.
- Knowledge of the laws and ordinances regulating building construction.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and legal requirements.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and independently.
- Attention to detail, with an emphasis on quality.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines and work under pressure.
- Proven track record of producing successful estimates that lead to profitable projects.
- Professional demeanor and positive attitude.
