Overview

Primarily responsible for coordinating development and ensuring smooth execution of activities available for participation by IL residents to enhance the quality of their health and well-being. Coordinate with marketing, administration, and other activity staff and residents to promote activities that improve residents' quality of life. Plan, implement, and evaluate the activity program, providing leisure opportunities that meet residents' interests and needs.

Location: Newport News, Virginia

Responsibilities include:

• Setting up and starting programs according to the monthly calendar.
• Conducting activities as scheduled in the absence of the Events Planner, following departmental policies.
• Adjusting hours to accommodate residents' schedules and preferences.
• Engaging with organizations and community members to promote services and educate residents and staff.
• Scheduling educational events with physicians related to resident wellness.
• Providing programming that addresses all wellness areas and resident needs.
• Offering support services like customer service, data entry, and clerical tasks to support administrative operations.
• Maintaining a safe and clean work environment, stocking supplies, and updating files during free time.
• Developing a monthly calendar of events and a newsletter, meeting deadlines.
• Delivering quality programs within budget with minimal resident complaints.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
• Experience in activities within long-term care or similar settings (preferred)
• Certifications: AED and First Aid (required within 30 days of hire)
