The nurse will work on a unit with 23 beds and a patient ratio of 1:6-7. Weekend work is required every other week. Documentation will be done using an electronic health record system. The nurse will be responsible for various skills and procedures including telemetry monitoring, insulin protocol adherence, colostomy care, and feeding tube management. The nurse will also manage pre/post hemodialysis care and handle renal failure cases. Responsibilities will include chest tube management and blood product administration. Experience with central line blood draws and peripheral line management is essential. The nurse will start IVs and administer medications such as Heparin and insulin. Familiarity with managing CVA, neuro surgeries, and total joint replacements is required. The nurse will care for surgical drains, manage nasal cannulas and perform oral suctioning. Oxygen management and tracheostomy care are also vital components of the role.
